A chemistry teacher by training, Glenn's first barbershop harmony experience came when he joined the Birmingham based Anvil Chorus in 1980. Apart from a couple of years working abroad in the 80s, he has been active as a chorus or quartet singer, chorus director, workshop leader and coach ever since.
On returning to the UK in 1987 Glenn moved to Southwell where he still lives. He joined the Nottingham Gateway Chorus, went on to sing with Hallmark of Harmony and has sung in various quartets.
Following a youth workshop in Quorn in 1990, he formed barbershop choruses for boys and girls at his school in Nottingham. In 1992 the girls' chorus evolved into the Lace City Chorus with Glenn as founder director. Between 2004 and 2017 Lace City won the Sweet Adelines Region 31 (UK and Netherlands) gold medal six times and Glenn became the first Master Director in the Region. The chorus represented the UK at International six times, twice reaching 16th place in the World. Meanwhile there were spells as director of the Major Oak Chorus which he formed in 2003 and Harmony Lincs.
Glenn stepped down as Lace City director in 2020 after 27 years and soon joined the Grand Central Chorus.
Glenn has a Certificate of Teaching (Singing) with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, has trained to levels 1 and 2 in Estill and he is a member of the Sweet Adelines Region 31 Faculty. Glenn has recently trained as a leader with Sing to Beat Parkinsons and he has an interest in neurodiversity awareness in a singing context.
